Pioneer winter oilseed rape hybrids
Our Pioneer winter oilseed rape hybrid range for the 2025 season includes:

PT303: The first winter oilseed rape hybrid to offer growers in the UK and Ireland top level yields with built-in tolerance to Sclerotinia.

PT312: Provides a very high gross output yield with a very high oil content combined with turnip yellows virus resistance and Sclerotinia tolerance.

PT315: This hybrid has given a high gross output yield with a very high oil content. It combines pod shatter resistance with turnip yellows virus resistance.

Pioneer winter oilseed rape seed is available treated with LumiGEN® Premium or LumiGEN Insecticide Premium powered by Lumiposa™. Both options include the nutrient growth promoter Lumidapt Optima™ and the fungicide Scenic Gold™.

Feature hybrid: PT303
PT303 Protector® Sclerotinia is the first hybrid offered to UK growers with a claim for Sclerotinia tolerance. Its impressive disease package includes TuYV resistance, partial resistance to verticillium stem stripe and a score of 7 for light leaf spot and 6 for phoma.

It’s proven its reliability with a gross output of 101% for the UK on the 2024 AHDB Recommended List, with 101% in the East West region and 100% in the North region. Additionally, with the strong yields achieved in years when cabbage stem flea beetle activity was very high across much of the UK, PT303 has further proven its ability to deliver. This season, choose the UK’s all-round top performer.

Stewardship steps to consider before drilling and at establishment of your oilseed rape
With harvest just around the corner and planning for the next crops underway, we thought it would be useful to remind growers about some of the stewardship best practices that should be considered now, ahead of OSR drilling. Field selection, tramline placement and buffer zones should all be considered with the objective of keeping the active ingredient out of watercourses.

Our new Propyzamide Knowledge Hub goes “back to basics” on what propyzamide is, how it works, how to apply it to achieve the best outcome, and practical advice on how to use it responsibly. Click here to visit our Propyzamide Knowledge Hub. You can also earn CPD points by testing your knowledge about propyzamide here. BASIS points: 3 (1 CP; 1 E; 1 AP) and 2 NRoSO points.

Give extra support to your oilseed rape crop by stabilising nitrogen in the Autumn
A crop reaching its yield potential is underpinned by successful establishment. In oilseed rape we have seen evidence of improved autumn establishment from using Instinct® in the autumn, especially when used in conjunction with slurry and digestate. Our internal development trials showed yield responses of up to 7% and improved spring vigour in oilseed rape when Instinct is used in the autumn.
Instinct can reduce leaching by around 50% and reduce denitrification through greenhouse gases by 45%. This means nitrogen is kept in the soil for longer and is therefore available for the oilseed rape to use.

The product should be applied at a rate of 1.7L/ha, as close to the application of the source of nitrogen as possible – ideally within a couple of days either side, if not applied with the slurry or digestate. Instinct can be applied to a seed bed and incorporated or simply sprayed on as a surface application.

Reboot for cabbage stem flea beetle management in OSR
The strongest set of cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB) management strategies to date has been released. The top ten list of strategies to tackle the critical beetle pest was compiled by a large consortium of stakeholders passionate about oilseed rape’s future in the UK. Read more on the AHDB website.
