Pioneer® WOSR hybrids and seed treatment options
At Corteva, we have a full selection of Pioneer® WOSR hybrids that have been extensively trialled across the UK.
- PT303 is the first winter oilseed rape hybrid to offer growers in the UK and Ireland top level yields with built-in tolerance to Sclerotinia.
- PT312: PT312 provides a very high gross output yield with a very high oil content combined with turnip yellows virus resistance and Sclerotinia tolerance.
- PT315 has given a high gross output yield with a very high oil content. It combines pod shatter resistance with turnip yellows virus resistance.
- PT279CL was the first Clearfield hybrid to be added to the AHDB Recommended List and continues to offer high yields with good standing power.
- PX131 is the only semi-dwarf hybrid on the 2024 AHDB Descriptive List. This unique hybrid provides growers with the greatest ease of combining.
Pioneer Winter Oilseed Rape seed is available treated with Lumigen™ Premium or Lumigen™ Insecticide Premium Powered by Lumiposa™. Both options include the nutrient growth promoter Lumidapt Optima™ and the fungicide Scenic Gold™. The insecticide Lumiposa helps get crops off to the right start. Trials show Lumiposa can lead to a higher plant establishment and fewer cabbage stem flea beetle larvae per plant. In early drilling situations its protection against cabbage root fly attack may be very valuable.

Choose Zorvec™ active for proven protection against Late Blight
As potato plants grow and develop, they are threatened by many factors, one of the most important of which is fungal disease, which can result in smaller, lower-quality harvests, and in some cases, no harvest at all.
Zorvec™ active is the first active ingredient of its kind - a member of a novel class of fungicides that control diseases caused by oomycetes acting at a unique target site. It also works inside plants to protect new growth. As leaves emerge, Zorvec continues protecting the plant.
Zorvec Entecta™, the latest solution available to growers having received approval for use in the UK in 2024, utilises the renowned Zorvec active formulation to deliver the most flexible Late Blight control.
- Formulation: Suspo-emulsion (SE) containing 240g/l amisulbrom + 48g/l oxathiapiprolin - Group 21 + 49 Fungicides respectively.
- Recommended rate: 0.25L/ha

Turn to Shield Pro™ for game cover weed control
When planning species selection of game covers and other wildlife mixes, consider the potential weed control options that may be used.
- Shield Pro™ has an Extension of Authorisation for Minor Use (EAMU), no. 20231967 for outdoor game and wildlife crops.
- Shield Pro offers a specific weed control solution against difficult weeds within single species and mixed species game cover crops, controlling thistles, mayweed and groundsel.
|
|
Guide to selectivity of Shield Pro against a range of Game cover crop species:
|
|
Application information:
- Apply Shield Pro at 0.25L/ha – 0.5 L/ha at the 4-6 leaf stage of the game cover crop.
- Weeds should be actively growing and not under stress at time of application.
- Apply Shield Pro to crops before flower bud development.
Please note: Clopyralid can remain in plant residues and affect following crops – ensure full incorporation of crop residues before planting treated areas with susceptible crops.
Other weed control solutions for game cover crops include:

It’s time to get BlueN™ applied to potatoes and sugar beet!
The potato and sugar beet crops in the UK are reaching their optimal growth stage for a BlueN™ application. BlueN contains a bacterium, Methylobacterium symbioticum, that converts nitrogen from a sustainable source, the atmosphere, into ammonium inside the plant. This is then used to build essential amino acids used for plant growth in both potatoes and sugar beet. Use BlueN in addition to your normal fertiliser programme.
In trials applying BlueN on top of a farmer’s potato fertiliser regime, the average yield benefit was 2.5t/ha. In 80% of trials where there was a positive yield response, the average yield benefit was 3.3t/ha.
In an independent sugar beet trial in 2023, there was a 14t/ha (adjusted to 16% sugar) yield benefit when BlueN was applied on top of the farmer’s fertiliser programme.
Read our latest BlueN article here on how Sam Myhill of MB Farming Ltd has turned to a market-leading biostimulant to help his sugar beet mitigate the risks presented by this year’s challenging conditions.
Or, read another article here to find out how potato grower Andrew Thomas increased his Maris Peer potato yield by 20% with a BlueN application.

Cereals Event 2024 highlights
It was great to see so many folk at the Corteva stand at Cereals Event 2024. Visitors to the stand were able to have great conversations with Corteva staff, take part in our bumper hamper prize draw, and enjoy tasty pizza and coffee. Over the 2 days we served 2,100 slices of pizza and 900 hot drinks. Around 400 visitors to the Corteva stand were on the CPD knowledge trail – we hope you found our posters and team to be very helpful. Our Univoq canvas bags went down a treat with almost 800 given out at the event and a selection of Corteva baseball caps and welly boot bags also going down well. We hope you picked up a Corteva goodie and will get lots of good use from it.
