Give winter cereals the best start with Ympact® seed treatment
With increasing wet autumns and winters, it’s important to give crops the best chance and protect yield potential from the word go.
Ympact® is a novel biostimulant seed treatment which supports the crop, particularly in the early stages of growth and even in poorer establishment conditions.
Why use Ympact?
- Speeds up plant emergence and improves early crop vigour.
- Enables more uniform plant establishment.
- Increases biomass and chlorophyll content.
- Increases winter hardiness.
- Compatible with fungicidal base seed dressings.

Potato events and Zorvec™ active stewardship
The Corteva team were on site at Potatoes in Practice earlier this month in Dundee to talk to the industry about the range of products and solutions on offer in the UK and Ireland. It was great to see a mix of potato growers and agronomists from local areas as well as further afield. The conversation around Corteva’s stewardship guidelines was a topic of focus.
To date there has been no indication of new strains of P.infestans, or resistance beyond that which UK growers and agronomists have been managing in recent seasons which suggests that the updated advice has been adopted and proven to be effective in maintaining the status quo to this point.
You can expect to see the team at the Eurofins Potato Open Day on 21st August in Derby where they will be chatting to the industry about the Corteva potato fungicide trials on site. Watch the short update video from Craig Chisholm, Field Technical Manager for Fungicides, to find out more.

Amid the continuing blight pressure, which is likely to be maintained through the rest of the season, looking after the Zorvec™ active chemistry is key and Corteva urge growers and advisors to continue to follow the guidance.

Oilseed rape establishment and weed control
Successful establishment of oilseed rape is key to achieving high yields. Coupled with this is need for effective autumn weed control to support the crop. Oilseed rape is known for being an uncompetitive crop so managing the weed burden early on with an early post-em application really helps to give it the best chance.
Read our article on oilseed rape establishment and weed control to get some detailed advice on how to do this effectively.

Improve autumn nitrogen management with Instinct®
Nitrogen in the autumn is quite vulnerable to environmental escape – warm soils mean
rapid conversion to nitrate, crops with limited root networks struggle to pick up the nitrate, and more rainfall in the autumn can leach away nitrate or prompt denitrification in waterlogged soils.
Apply Instinct® to keep more nitrogen available in the soil for longer and reduce losses through leaching or denitrification. Ammonium will be stabilised for about 10-12 weeks, depending upon soil temperatures. The cooler the soil, the longer the period of stabilisation.
Corteva’s internal development trials looking at Instinct used with slurry in oilseed rape showed it can reduce leaching and denitrification by 50%, yield increases of approximately 7%, as well as improved crop vigour.

2024 WOSR PACTS results
The annual winter oilseed rape PACTS (Pioneer® Accurate Crop Testing System) results are in! We conduct these multi-location trials so that we can accurately describe the performance of the Pioneer WOSR hybrids. The various sites have generated some great results for the selected Pioneer hybrids. Each Pioneer hybrid offers a different combination of traits.
PT303 - This AHDB Recommended Hybrid continues to deliver high yields with high oil contents. It is the first hybrid to offer tolerance to Sclerotinia and has shown a high level of tolerance to Verticillium Stem Stripe.
PT312 - Provides a very high gross output yield with a very high oil content. It combines Protector sclerotinia tolerance with turnip yellows virus resistance. First trials have shown it has good tolerance to Verticillium Stem Stripe.
PT315 - Provides a very high gross output yield with a very high oil content, pod shatter resistance and turnip yellows virus resistance.
