Get set for spring weed control with Zypar
Following the recent wet weather, spring spraying workloads look likely to be compressed and getting on top of competitive broad-leaved weeds early should be a priority for growers in the coming weeks once the land is fit for travel.
With reports of difficult broad-leaved weeds such as cleavers, cranesbill and fumitory emerging in crops, growers should look to control these weeds as soon as possible, before they become competitive with the crop.
Product choice is important and Zypar® has a wide weed spectrum that includes Brassica weeds, Groundsel, Mayweed and Bur Chervil. It is especially effective at controlling difficult weeds such as cleavers and fumitory.
|
Benefits of Zypar:
- Outstanding cleaver control
- Fast acting, even when weather conditions are marginal, allowing early removal of weed competition
- Flexible application window from GS13 to GS45, beyond the application window of sulfonyl-urea and phenoxy herbicides
- Excellent activity against fumitory, which is not adequately controlled by sulfonyl-urea or phenoxy chemistry
- A wide range of tested tank-mix compatibilities that allows you to complete the weed spectrum by adding another herbicide such as Harmony M to boost Polygonum control for example
- Zypar may also be used on Winter Oats at a maximum use rate of 0.5l/ha. Applications to Winter Oats should be made between GS13 and GS32 (Up to 31st May)

Korvetto application window open
Reports of spring emerging weeds including cleavers, cranesbill and scentless mayweed mean growers should remain vigilant of their oilseed rape crops and take action.
If crops are still yet to reach growth stage 50, then you can apply Korvetto®. The application window for Korvetto is open until 31st May. Applications should be made prior to canopy closure and before flower buds are visible from above the crop canopy (BBCH 50).
If spray days become condensed, Korvetto can be tank-mixed with a wide range of herbicides, fungicides and trace elements. For more information visit the Korvetto product page.

An introduction to BlueN with Field Technical Manager Iuliia Kovalova
With the clocks having gone forward over the weekend (26th March), spring will have definitely sprung and plant growth will spring back into action. BlueN™, from Corteva, is a widely available nutrition biostimulant that can help your crops reach their potential.
BlueN is foliar applied containing a naturally occurring bacteria that converts free nitrogen in the atmosphere to readily usable ammonium for the plant. At least 30 kg/ha of supplemental sustainable nitrogen can be delivered throughout the growing season across the range of crops on the label, including cereals and oilseed rape. Click here to see Corteva’s Biologicals Field Technical Manager, Iuliia Kovalova, explain how BlueN works and the optimum conditions for application of BlueN this spring.

Broadway Star - what does it control?
Alongside the control of grasses and broad weeds including cleavers, charlock and cranesbill, Broadway® Star has seen activity on some other weeds as well. Based on limited trials or anecdotal information, we have received feedback that Broadway Star + an adjuvant has activity on timothy up to early-mid tillering; activity on Yorkshire fog up to mid tillering; and some activity reducing biomass although not always complete control of volunteer barley. This information is for guidance only and should not be considered as a recommendation for use. Best control of weeds with Broadway Star is achieved when the crop and weeds are actively growing in warm conditions, a good indicator is that lawns are growing and in need of regular cutting.
