The end of another action-packed year
A big thank you to all readers of our Agronomy Update. We hope you have found this technical newsletter a valuable source of information about Corteva and our products.
As we look ahead to 2025, we will see exciting new products added to our range as well as changes to our existing products. We will keep you posted on these through this newsletter and other channels.

Corteva’s top tips for OSR growers this December
- Grab some fresh winter air and chase those pigeons off your crop!
- If you haven’t applied your propyzamide already, remember that the cut-off for Astrokerb® & Kerb® Flo applications is the end of January.
- Do your final stewardship checks before applying propyzamide.
- Needing extra broad-leaved weed control? Belkar® can be applied until the end of BBCH 21. You can tank mix Belkar with Astrokerb or Kerb Flo.
- Calibrate your fertiliser spreader ready for applications of N and Sulphur.
- Spring will be here before you know it. As your crop opens up, review the broad-leaved weed pressure. Order Korvetto® ready for the use period, for the ultimate spring clean.
- Corteva is committed to supporting farmers and agronomists to grow oilseed rape successfully. Our dedicated OSR online hub and technical hotline team will support you through the season.

Managing herbicide resistance in broad-leaved weeds
Herbicide resistance in broad-leaved weeds is relatively rare when compared to resistance in grass weeds such as blackgrass or ryegrass, but incidence is on the increase and there is concern that it may now be found in further species. Our latest article by Corteva’s Field Technical Manager, Hugh Guinan, delves into the rise of resistance in some of the most affected weeds like poppy, chickweed, and mayweed. Learn about the development of resistance, early detection signs, and effective management strategies to combat this issue.
Here are our tips to avoid broadleaf-weed resistance and get the most out of your herbicides:
- Target weeds when small and actively growing. For weeds such as ALS poppy, control should start in the autumn with pendimethalin and follow up in the spring with an alternative mode of action such as Arylex (found in Pixxaro® or Zypar®).
- If you are applying complicated, multi-way tank mixes, don’t be tempted to split out the herbicides if there are too many products in the tank. Keep the herbicides together.
- Minimise the use of ALS herbicides in the rest of the rotation, only use them where you really need them.
- Maintain good spray records and always investigate cases of poor weed control.
- Consider spraying off patches of poorly controlled weeds before seed set if you suspect resistance. This will avoid seed return and problems later down the line.
- Collect seed or tissue samples and get them tested if resistance is suspected.

2025/26 Maize PACTS trial results
Our 2025/26 PACTS book will be produced in the next few weeks. However, we are able to share the results with you now. Please email events@corteva.com to receive your copy. The copy includes results from favourable and less favourable sites, as well as methane gas yields.

Resilient and Ready update (Corteva and LEAF's sustainable farming programme)
Kingsplay Farming Ltd
Nick and Lucy have had a fantastic year with some highlights including winning the prestigious Farmers Weekly Mixed Farmer of the Year Award for 2024, alongside the Climate Positive Agriculture Award at the 2024 Cream Awards! They have also enjoyed getting stuck into trials and events including hosting the Corteva and LEAF Maize Trials Day in June and LEAF Open Farm Sunday building on their success from their first time in 2023.
Lodge Farm
Sibling duo Bryony and Archie have also had a great year with events including hosting a day for the wider Corteva and LEAF team to introduce their farm and business practices as well as LEAF Open Farm Sunday for the second year running. They continue to develop and show resilience through the programme and are embracing all the learning opportunities.
